How many years of experience do you have selling and administering car warranties? Obviously, the longer they have been in business the better the chances are that they will continue to be around.
Do you Offer Financing? If you can't afford to pay the full cost of the warranty up front you want a warranty company that offers zero percent financing. You want to avoid financing the warranty in with your car loan.
Can I Choose The Repair Facility Where I Have My Vehicle Repaired? You want to be able to have your vehicle repaired at a shop of your own choosing; one that you know, trust and have confidence in.
Do You Pay The Repair Facility Directly or Do I Have To Lay the Money Out Then Get Reimbursed? You don't want to have to pay the bill yourself out of your own pocket, and then fight a claims representitive for your reimbursement.
Can You Verify and Prove That Your Company is Financially Stable? The importance of this particular point can't be stressed enough. If the company is not financially stable they won't be there down the road if and when you need them.
Do Your Warranties Include Wear and Tear Coverage? If the warranty doesn't cover you for wear and tear then a part has to completely fail before it will be considered as a covered repair. This could pose a real problem with items such as noisy bearings, leaking piston rings, etc.
Is Over-heating of the Engine Covered? This is a very important part of a warranty's coverage. If the engine over-heats, and a part breaks as a result - for example a cracked engine block or cylinder head - you want to be sure the warranty will cover the cost of the repair.
Do You Offer One Deductible Per Visit or One For Each Item Repaired? If the warranty doesn't offer one deductible per visit to the repair shop as opposed to one deductible for each covered part that's replaced don't buy the warranty.
Do You Offer a Zero Deductible Option? Not everyone opts for the zero deductible option, but you at least want it available to you should you want it.
Do you Offer Roadside Assistance Coverage? You'll want to be covered if your car needs to be towed for a covered repair, or if it runs out of gas, if you lock your keys in the car, etc.
Do you Offer Car Rental Coverage? If your vehicle tied up in a repair shop overnight for a covered repair, you'll want the warranty to provide you with a rental car.
Do You Offer Travel Interruption Coverage? This will pay for food and lodging should your car break down due to a covered repair while traveling away from home.
Is The Extended Warranty Transferable and Renewable? If the warranty is transferable to a new owner it will increase the value of your vehicle if you decide to put it up for sale.
Are Your Extended Warranties Insured By Top Rated Insurance Companies? This is very important. If the warranty company fails you want to be sure that a quality insurance company is there to cover any repair claims you may have.
